小时候，我不知道什么是建筑。但有一个星期六的傍晚，我们坐小火车去看电影，街道上的影院看起来都是那样美好。盥洗室的空间是黄色和黑色，栏杆上有小圆点的点缀……那种美好的感觉让我猜想，这一定就是建筑了。还有一次，我们去家附近的修道院，美轮美奂的巴洛克式教堂里，僧侣唱着圣歌。这一定也是建筑了。然后，最美妙的是，在礼拜的末尾我们走入被岩石包裹的一间小小的礼拜堂，无数蜡烛燃烧着，散发出特殊的气味……那一定，也是建筑吧。当然，一定还有其他类似的瞬间。长大后回想，真好，在我的童年里建筑始终不曾缺席过。
那么什么是“我”的建筑？那些能震撼我心灵与精神的建筑，是我喜欢的东西，但绝不会是从杂志或与他人的谈话中得来的线索。它们就是我自己。然而要如何寻找这种感觉？首先，必须全神贯注于自己希望完成的事情上，但同时，需要保持松弛，漫游，感受……然后突然之间，想法就会自然地涌现，它就是我生命的一部分。
